About Us
We do all of the following in order to meet our goals:
Working in partnership with The Bread Gallery in Brooklyn and the Avon River Heritage Centre in Newport Landing/Avondale, we arrange for many opportunities for members to show their art during the year. Long Winter Nights Annual members showcase held at the Bread Gallery in Brooklyn, Hants County Every November and December. Artists' Landing Gallery We begin our season the first Friday in May with an opening gala in celebration of the Great Little Art Show, a local favourite since 1998, featuring the work of established and emerging local artists. Once a month the gallery comes alive for Sofa Sundays, a series of live music performances, and every Thursday afternoon we host Open Studio drop-in sessions for artists and hobbyists. The Great Little Art Show Organized by Avon River Arts, the Great Little Art Show is a major attraction in the community and is a significant fundraiser for the Avon River Heritage Museum and Avon Spirit Shipyard. The show opens the first Friday in May and continues until the last weekend of the summer. Open Studio Afternoons Hosted by the Avon River Heritage Society, these weekly drop-in sessions are open to the public, held every Thursday afternoon, May through October, in the Lydia and Sally Café and the Artists' Landing Studio, 17 Belmont Road, Newport Landing/Avondale.
